Alpharetta is rich in history!
Alpharetta was founded along a Cherokee Indian Trail, stretching from the mountains of north Georgia to the Chattahoochee River. Initially, it was a small village called New Prospect Camp Ground consisting of tents and a log school. It became a trade post where white settlers and Indians exchanged goods. New Prospect Camp Ground was chartered and declared the county seat of Milton County in December of 1858. It got the name Alpharetta around the same time, which was derived from Greek and translates into “first town.”Source
